When I photographed Gretchen it was the kind of day everyone dreams about when they think of fall leaves. The colors had just changed what seemed like hours before our session and the air was crisp and fresh. Upon arrival at this senior’s home, I saw her backyard and thought it the most wonderful, magical place—a perfect setting for warm, genuine portraits to document the special time in this young lady’s life. She is the most gracious person with a beautiful spirit. It was an honor to photograph her. We explored the forest for spots with gorgeous patches of sunlight streaming through the branches. We also took the time for Gretchen to play a few songs on her cello. How magical to be in the forest listening to musical notes floating around the trees. This truly was the most peaceful session I’ve ever had. Gretchen has played the cello since the fifth grade and she has also spent many years in cheerleading too. I know the world is a better place because of Gretchen and I can’t wait to hear where she goes to school next year as she continues her journey in life.
